Michael Harlan Turkell is a former restaurant cook, now freelance photographer and photo editor of Edible Brooklyn and Edible Manhattan magazines (ediblebrooklyn.com, ediblemanhattan.com). His award-winning “Back of the House” project, in which he photographs the inner workings of kitchens and the lives of chefs, is an on-going series in both the Brooklyn and Manhattan editions of Edible, and such similar works have been published in an array of food-related magazines and online sources. He recently photographed two cookbooks, Clinton Street Baking Company (Little Brown), and The New Brooklyn Cookbook (William Morrow / Harper Collins), both to come out in the Fall 2010.
