What is key, is to support the local businesses and avoid the McDonalds, the Subways, the Margaritavilles and their ilk.  

As for tipping, my rule of thumb is $1 for beer or wine, $2-3 for a cocktail depending on the work involved, and 15-20% of the food bill depending on service from waitstaff.</description>
